Cosmetic Benefits of BOTOX

Although aging affects multiple parts of your body, the visible signs of growing older first appear in the face. Your brow may begin to droop, facial lines begin to become more pronounced, and wrinkles form. You can pamper your skin with moisturizers and creams that promise younger results, but the cosmetic benefits of BOTOX® create real, natural results without surgery or downtime.

The Cosmetic Benefits of BOTOX®

BOTOX® is a cosmetic injection that can be used to lift lines and provide a smoothing effect on your brow, and around the nose, mouth, and eyes. You can avoid extensive surgery, experience immediate results and return to your normal activities all within the same day.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is a neurotoxin produced using bacteria known as botulinum toxin. It causes temporary relaxation of the underlying muscle activity responsible for wrinkles, thereby smoothing out the skin. The wrinkles and lines in your face will appear less noticeable, if they are visible at all. The results typically last for about six months, at which time you will need to schedule another session. With repeated treatments, patients have often reported that their wrinkles are less visible, even after they reappear.

What is Involved in a BOTOX® Procedure?

After a consultation with our medical team, you can make an appointment for your BOTOX® procedure if it is determined to be the best option for you. Your session will be short and you will not need anesthesia. Injections with an ultrafine needle will be made directly into the muscle of treated areas with minimal pain.

Within one week, you should see improvement in the appearance of your wrinkles. In order to reduce the risk of bruising, avoid anti-inflammatory medication for a two-week period leading up to your procedure. Aspirin and alcohol should also be avoided. Minor redness, bruising, and swelling are common at injection sites, but will fade after a day or two. It is important to remain in an upright position for approximately four hours after your procedure and to avoid massaging treated areas in order to prevent the BOTOX® from shifting to other areas of your face.

Who is a Candidate for BOTOX® Treatments?

While BOTOX® is extremely toxic in its natural form, it generally does not cause problems for those who use it for cosmetic purposes. If you are in good health, do not have any skin conditions, and are mentally fit, treatment with BOTOX® is typically approved. This treatment is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or nursing. Contact Knox Aesthetics today to schedule a consultation and find out if BOTOX® Cosmetic is right for you.
