JUVÉDERM

In the past few decades, minimally invasive beauty treatments have become increasingly popular because people are living longer and healthier lives. If you’re starting to notice the first signs of aging, you might be a good candidate for dermal fillers. At Knox Aesthetics, we offer several JUVÉDERM injectables that can plump up your tissues, get rid of wrinkles, and augment your lips.

How Long Does JUVÉDERM Last?

Most dermal fillers we administer are made with a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid. HA is naturally present in many of your tissues, including your skin and eyes. It attracts moisture and stimulates the production of collagen. When injected into the treatment site, it adds volume to the tissue and reduces wrinkles and sagging skin.

HA filler treatment is biodegradable and reversible because the molecules are metabolized by the body within a few months. Traditional fillers, which have been around for several decades, typically last between six and twelve months. However, some more durable options have become available in the last few years. Cross-linked HA fillers don’t start disintegrating until twelve to eighteen months after the initial appointment.

The Standard Formula

Filler treatment has been available for over twenty years. The standard formula can address a wide range of skin concerns. It is particularly effective at smoothing out wrinkles around the mouth and nose, but it can also be injected into the forehead or around the eyes. Sometimes, we use hyaluronic acid fillers to augment the shape of the lips.

The standard gel remains in place for six to twelve months at a time. Most of our patients come to the clinic once or twice a year for a top-up injection. However, those who want dramatic results sometimes visit us every three to four months. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, it can be injected safely multiple times per year.

Cross-Linked Molecules

In the past decade, several new fillers have been approved by the FDA. They are made using special cross-linking technology. The molecules are more closely linked, so they aren’t metabolized as quickly. Cross-linked fillers can be used to get rid of nasolabial lines, smoker’s lines, bunny lines, and marionette lines.

They can also augment the lips and add volume to the cheeks. Typically, patients experience excellent results for twelve to eighteen months at a time. The longevity of the results depends on the treatment area and the person’s lifestyle.

VOLUMA

Aside from wrinkling and sagging skin, many people experience a loss of volume in the mid-face as they age. Their cheeks might appear sunken and hollow, which makes them look older, unhealthier, and more tired than they are. VOLUMA is a filler specifically designed to address these issues. It is thicker than the other gels, so it effectively plumps up the cheeks.

Because VOLUMA is cross-linked and thick, it provides patients with extremely long-lasting results. Most people who get this filler don’t need another treatment for two years. This makes VOLUMA one of the most durable minimally invasive treatments out there.

Factors Affecting Your Results

Not everyone experiences the same results after filler treatment. The most successful patients are those who live a healthy lifestyle, take great care of their injection sites, and follow all our guidelines. People who do a lot of high-impact sports sometimes have to come to the clinic more often than others because their metabolism is faster. The results also depend on the treatment area.

Your Lifestyle

Everyone ages over time, but some people notice the symptoms earlier than others. Patients who don’t take good care of their bodies and fail to moisturize their skin often struggle to maintain good results and keep wrinkles at bay. They might need to come to the clinic more often and start treatment at a younger age if they want to avoid premature wrinkles and skin folds.

One of the most important factors is sunlight exposure. If you regularly visit tanning salons or expose your skin to a lot of direct sunlight, your DNA gets damaged. As a result, you develop wrinkles, leathery skin, and age spots. Always wear sunscreen when you go outside, and try to stay in the shade.

Your Metabolism

Some people have a faster metabolism due to genetic factors or their exercise routines. They might have to come to the clinic more frequently. Typically, high-intensity exercise like running, HIIT classes, and aerobics speeds up a person’s metabolism. This is great for weight loss, but not so good for cosmetic treatments.

If you’d like to prolong your results, consider taking part in medium or low-intensity workouts. Some great ones include brisk walking, hiking, leisurely swimming, and cycling. Try to spend at least three hours a week on these activities. They help you to remain in good shape and prevent many medical conditions like heart disease. They also keep you looking fresh and healthy and improve your body’s regenerative capacity.

Your Treatment Area

People use their lips almost all the time, and they are always in motion. That’s why JUVÉDERM lip fillers and treatments that target the area around the mouth don’t tend to last as long. In contrast, dermal fillers in the cheeks, forehead, and around the eyes often last much longer.

It’s also worth considering the structure and condition of the face. If your features are still youthful and the signs of aging minimal, you might not need frequent treatment. On the other hand, you might require two or three sessions a year if you have severe lines and wrinkles.

The Clinic You Choose

Like other injectables, dermal fillers are highly technique-sensitive. You won’t get great, long-lasting results if you get treated by someone who isn’t properly qualified. Always visit a reputable clinic and ask to be treated by an experienced professional.

Should I Get Dermal Fillers?

If you’re worried about the visible signs of aging or the shape of your lips, dermal fillers could be right for you. With this treatment, we can address lines and wrinkles around your mouth and nose, fill in your cheeks, and augment your lips. Because there are so many gels, it’s easy to customize treatment, and you’ll almost certainly achieve the desired results.

Dermal fillers are made from a natural substance, so they’re a good choice for many patients. Those with minor allergies or medical concerns are usually eligible. However, we can’t treat people who are suffering from a severe disease or those who have an infection at the treatment site. Pregnant women aren’t eligible until approximately six months after they have given birth.

What Age Is Best?

Patients often ask us about the best age for filler treatment. There isn’t a perfect time to start because it all depends on the individual’s skin, medical history, and goals. Some patients come to the clinic in their twenties and thirties because their skin is damaged due to excessive sunlight exposure. Others need fillers at a young age because they aren’t happy with the shape of their lips.

Although dermal fillers are particularly effective at addressing the first signs of aging, they are also suitable for people in their fifties and beyond. These patients might have deeper lines, so they require a thicker gel and larger quantities of hyaluronic acid. It’s never too late to get started, and many people are still eligible after sixty.

What Happens During the Appointment?

Each dermal filler appointment takes around thirty minutes to one hour. Don’t wear makeup or cosmetic products on the day of your session. Plan to arrive early, so we can apply numbing cream to your treatment area before we begin. Once your tissues are numb, we mark the injection sites and inject the hyaluronic acid under your skin. This takes about fifteen to twenty minutes.

You don’t have to stay for observation after your appointment. Instead, you can drive yourself home or back to work. Keep your treatment site clean and free of makeup for a day or two, so the injection sites can heal. Don’t expose your face to direct sunlight or participate in activities that heat up your skin. Avoid taking blood-thinning drugs and supplements for several days before and after your session because they interfere with the healing process.

Improve Your Appearance with Minimally Invasive Injections

JUVÉDERM fillers are incredibly long-lasting when compared to other minimally invasive beauty treatments. The standard injectables last for six to twelve months, but cross-linked fillers remain in place for eighteen or even twenty-four months at a time. Send us a message at Knox Aesthetics, and ask us about dermal fillers. We’re looking forward to telling you more about the cosmetic medicine options available at the clinic.
